Thanksgiving weekend

What a weekend! Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's with all the cousins. Up early Friday morning for family photos (we're all still waiting for the photographer's link to the photos - they were incredible!). Shivering through the annual Reston Christmas parade. And Caroline's baptism (also still waiting for Butch's pictures from that one - he's resizing them and promises to send them soon). Oh, and Saturday, a HAWK sailed down and perched in the tree outside our front door!

Waiting for the actual baptism before we pull off the bib. And she spit up as soon as I removed it, of course!

Caroline was such a good sport through the photo shoot, even though it was at nap time. Afterwards, we snuggled with Johnny Bear before heading to the parade.

What? We didn't do anything!

dried cherries and pistachios - feeling in the silence the communal rise and fall of little sleeping bellies - the lazy drone of the hamster wheel - pink roses on white tablecloth - preschool teachers - steady meditative slicing of tomatoes while two children nap - dogwood blooms - sun blasting through storm clouds - the way usborne books feel in my hands - shirtless chase reading to me as i clean up breakfast dishes - caroline's baby dinosaur voice - the startling coo of a dove that's landed on the window sill just inches from where i'm rocking caroline - aztec hot chocolate after cold rainy 8 a.m. baseball games - sleeping with two warm little bodies pressed against mine - tiny green caterpillars - the sound of no traffic - continental breakfast - insomnia in a hotel when it allows me to be awake for a whispered "oh hi mommy! i love you" before he drifts back to sleep -
