This is the only time in AGES that Chase's (my) birthday hasn't fallen on Memorial Day weekend. Usually it's one big sweaty sunscreeny mess of pool openings, Viva Vienna and birthday parties. This year, Memorial Day came early. Leading up to it, we visited the farm where we get our CSA vegetables, adopted the world's MOST AMAZING RABBIT, worked on our garden (I bought myself a composter for my birthday! YEAH! 45 is so sexy! COMPOSTING!!!). We did go to Viva Vienna, of course. After I told Chase he was acting like a Class A jerk on the way to the soccer game where Grandma kindly pointed out that Chase doesn't look well. Because he had a high fever and STREP. Anyway, he got better and we hit the pool. And he pulled a Greg Brady and moved to his own room and bathroom in the basement (okay he still sleeps with his brother upstairs near us, but at least he goes in a different direction in the mornings and evenings, which makes for more peaceful gettings ready). Swim team practice has started. The end of school year presentations and events are ramping up, and I'm very busy helping plan the big 6th grade dance. And Chase did eventually turn 12, and we'll be taking him to NEW YORK!
