The Day My Mama Socked it to The HARPER VALLEY P.T.A.

Yeah. For some reason, that's the song that was playing in my head all day today while the kids and I explored Harper's FERRY West VA. But seriously, if you haven't been, GO. It is gorgeous, and the history is incredible. And now I can say I took my kids to three different states over spring break. The cathedral is especially beautiful, and had an sobering effect on my kids. I explained that the little line in Matthew, about Pilate having Jesus flogged, doesn't convey the violence that was visited on him that day. They had a million questions, and were shocked that Jesus was put through such an ordeal BEFORE he was even handed his own cross to carry to his execution. Eerily appropriate for this Maundy Thursday.
