One More Reason I Love Chick-Fil-A

Caroline generally will have nothing to do with Santa Claus. She understands him and is excited about Christmas, but like most toddlers, she has been afraid of him. Until last night. When some friends invited us to join them at Chick-fil-A, where this wonderful Santa dedicated loads of time, attention and love to each kid. And a photographer took tons of pictures and told me I could pick up my free 5x7s at Walgreen's on Thursday. Caroline marched right up to him. And now it's like they're old friends. When Santa made a surprise appearance at Cole's preschool chapel service this morning, Caroline waved furiously and called out at the top of her lungs, "MOMMY! It's HO! Hi, HO!"

steady meditative slicing of tomatoes while two children nap - dogwood blooms - sun blasting through storm clouds - the way usborne books feel in my hands - shirtless chase reading to me as i clean up breakfast dishes - caroline's baby dinosaur voice - the startling coo of a dove that's landed on the window sill just inches from where i'm rocking caroline - aztec hot chocolate after cold rainy 8 a.m. baseball games -
