Introduction

Well, Cole is up from his nap - like all infants, he knows exactly when I'm going to sit down to do something and chooses that moment to wake up. So I'll be brief: I'm setting up this page to allow those closest to us (and total strangers, I suppose) to keep up with pictures and news so I don't have to flood their e-mailboxes every week with the same. So my first piece of only-interesting-to-the-mother news is this - Cole rolled over on his own for the first time yesterday. The best part of it was Chase, who burst into applause and shouted, "We're so PROUD of you, Coley!"

steady meditative slicing of tomatoes while two children nap - dogwood blooms - sun blasting through storm clouds - the way usborne books feel in my hands - shirtless chase reading to me as i clean up breakfast dishes - caroline's baby dinosaur voice - the startling coo of a dove that's landed on the window sill just inches from where i'm rocking caroline - aztec hot chocolate after cold rainy 8 a.m. baseball games - the honeycomb smell of cole's pillow - early morning mist on the field, sunrise pink - little blonde bit of first haircut - rich scrambled eggs from chickens that run around and eat grass and bugs - watering my vegetables - an unexpected new azalea in the backyard - putting summer activities on the calendar - little legs splattered in paint - mommy i need my inhayluhs - finally learning not to hurry - cake for no reason -
